Disney Lorcana's Rarest Enchanted Card Isn't Even Playable

Many Disney Lorcana cards have already proven very valuable to collectors, but this Enchanted card may be the rarest and can’t even be used.

Disney Lorcana hasn't even experienced its full release yet, but the value of some rarer cards, such as Enchanted or promotional cards, have already been causing a stir online. The new game is designed to be easy to learn and fun for everyone as it competes against well-established trading card games (TCGs) such as Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon TCG for a place in the tabletop gaming market. Disney Lorcana will include quarterly sets after the initial launch of The First Chapter, with all-new cards added, as well as additional content for the background story of the game.

Disney Lorcana cards are already proving themselves to be worth a lot of money, particularly any of the Enchanted rarities or promo cards from events. The TCG is scheduled to launch on September 1, 2023, but smaller, local game stores had a limited early debut in addition to sets of cards sold at conventions. Cards for Disney Lorcana are highly collectible for a variety of reasons, one of which being simply because they carry the name and artwork of Disney properties.

Recently, a unique card surfaced through a Reddit post from a confused purchaser who wanted to know what it was that they had in their pack. The card simply says "Discard" on a black background, yet also carries the special, shimmering, holofoil coating of Enchanted rarity cards.

Factory error cards are supposed to be discarded during production and typically are there to fill space on the printing line. Despite not being a playable card or having any artwork, this could be one of the most valuable Disney Lorcana cards, as it is possibly the only one in existence. Factory error discards without the Enchanted holofoil coating are already selling for hundreds of dollars on sites such as eBay. No value has yet been applied to the Enchanted discard at this time.

Enchanted cards for Disney Lorcana are rare and, therefore, already very valuable. These cards are of a secret rarity that goes above the traditional numbering system and feature a remade version of another card in the deck with alternate artwork. Additionally, every Enchanted card has a unique shimmering holofoil coating on it to further distinguish it as a special item and add to its beauty. The Enchanted discard card was likely printed in a blank space on the printing line next to other Enchanted cards, which is how it received the holofoil treatment.

A Disney Lorcana factory error discard card obviously holds no gameplay value, with no information or imagery to make it playable in any way. For collectors, however, a card that has a misprint or other problem with it often can make it more valuable as it is even rarer because of the error. Even when a card appears to be a mistake or trash, sometimes it ends up being the most rare and valuable, as is likely the case with the Disney Lorcana Enchanted Discard.
